In 2015 I was briefed to come up with a national, brand spot for Honda. This was the result.
For many transgender people, the name on their bank card doesn’t reflect their true identity. As a result, this can be the source of lot of fear and insecurities when simply trying to live their day-to-day lives and fit into society. The wrong name on their card could also unintentionally “out” them which could turn an otherwise safe situation into a dangerous one.
To help alleviate some of their anxieties, we created a card that allows them to display their chosen name, regardless if they’ve legally changed it.
This project is one of the most rewarding for me on a personal level as the idea stemmed from my own lived experience.
Mastercard also partnered with the New York City Commission on Human Rights to create an all-inclusive version of the iconic street sign at the corner of Gay and Christopher Streets in New York City’s West Village, adding rainbow of street signs for each letter in the LGBTQIA+ acronym. (I did not conceive this amazing idea, however I was a part of the production.)
Our bodies were designed to run. Yet shoe companies have insisted on making us dependent on features such as arch support, foam cushioning and air-filled insoles. Vibram FiveFingers stripped all that technology away, helping the body relearn how to run as nature intended. So in turn, we stripped all the technology out of their website in order to tell that story… YOU are all the technology you need.
